The multifunction relay can be used for different purposes by selecting one of six operating modes to control the multifunction relay: fault reporting, self-consumption optimization, consumer control, battery charging, fan control and signal transmission when feed-in begins.

Possible uses :
fault reporting contact
You can connect a display device to the multifunction relay that reports either faults or the normal operation of the inverter.
optimization of self-consumption
To the self-consumption To maximize energy efficiency, consumers can be switched on and off depending on the power output of the PV generator. The minimum switch-on time is adjustable.
Switching on consumers via communication devices
Using the multifunction relay, you can switch operational consumers on and off via the inverter's communication interface.
Power-dependent charging of batteries
Using the multifunction relay, you can control the charging of batteries depending on the power output of the PV generator.
Temperature-dependent switching on of an external fan
At high ambient temperatures, SMA inverters reduce their output to avoid overheating. If the installation location does not meet the climatic conditions specified in the inverter's installation manual, additional cooling can reduce any losses. For demand-based cooling, an external fan can be controlled via the multifunction relay depending on the temperature of the inverter.
Report the start of feed-in to the grid operator
If the local grid operator requires it, you can use the multifunction relay to send a signal to the grid operator as soon as the inverter connects to the public power grid. To do this, the multifunction relay simulates the switching state of the grid relay.
